so I tried "Get information from track fingerprint" from the context
menu, which gives a last.fm login dialog. Entering my (valid)
credentials and clicking log in kills Banshee (reproducible every time),

crash.
(Compiz got upset and fell over a lot, but that's a different story.)

Ok, I've set gstreamer-properties video output to "X Window System (No
Xv)" (ximagesink), and the test works, but Cheese still doesn't.

already one running.".
Workaround: `nohup gnome-panel &`

I had to help a friend re-order their default grub "default". They had
installed a free 9.10 ubuntu. Grub2 was installed. However the grub
(old grub) package was still installed. I installed the dummy package
grub2 which removed the old grub and reinstalled grub-pc.

For me, with compiz enabled, there's variably between ~0.3 and 1.5 seconds
delay before the switcher with previews appears.
It seems like more windows to be switched through results in a longer delay.
Without compiz (and no previews) the switcher appears immediately.
On Karmic with 128MB nVidia
Notification also misplaced for Hamster time tracker.
I suspect that this occurs with all notifications not triggered by a user.
Also occurs on my Asus eee pc 900.

I have a similar problem:
Song change notifications from Rhythmbox, and new mail from Evolution, appear
too far down the screen - as if it's below a non-existent notification.
Volume change appears in the expected position, directly below the
panel.
System has a nVidia dual-head card running Twi
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see in these bug reports that
any fix has been released.
The upstream bug was only closed because it was duped to a different
gnome bug (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=555284), which
just points here...
