determines the highscore ordering. There is no default provided - it
must be specified in /etc/typespeedrc, e.g.

i have the same issue, it is not a normal shutdown, it is like pulling
the power cable from a computer. when it happens it is a little random,
sometimes it will shutdown at the loading splash screen, sometimes at
the login screen, but most of the time within a minute of getting to the
desktop.

The local network is up all the time.
I attach all the syslogs. They most terminate by me pressing the power off
hard swich because the system has frozen.
As you will see, I haven't used it much - mainly because I can't rely on
it.

First install (that didn't work quite right) was in this method:
Insert Cd with iso file image, reboot computer, select to boot from CD, follow
command line script and install along side WinXP. On second install (today), I
booted into WinXp, inserted CD and let install run inside WinXp.
i have installed the package from your PPA, and the error has gone away,
but now the issue is when i connect my Cowon S9 PMP player and use
Exaile to play the music off of it, it causes the hard drive to grind,
left it going for about 20 minutes and nothing happened, the hard drive
just kept grindi

I'd like to confirm this on my end as well. Upgrade from Intrepid
64bit->Jaunty exhibits this behavior.
Console tools like ping or links work. Some do not however: notably

I went to sleep after filing the bug. Looking at the issue again today,
it seems to involve packages from a PPA (namely, the kubuntu-members-
kde4 PPA).

I think I understand now what is going on.
Yes, I have, with the same error generated. I have also tried removing
the package (and subsequently its dependencies), with the same error
generated. I just cannot access it through apt.
The soprano-daemon package IS from the aforementioned PP
And no, no issues with memory or hard disk corruption that I have
noticed, to address your original question.

This has happened to me on Asus M50vm-b1 laptop. Live-cd boots fine but
when I try to run install it hangs. I downloaded the alternate-install
64-bit and it gives me the "no commone cd-rom drive was detected" . Is
there any way to load some driver module to fix this?

I have an Asus m50vm-b1 and sound does not work out of the box on Ubuntu
8.10 release. I added the "options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-dig" to
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and the sound works, but I get crazy erratic
beeping and boot and shutdown, and boot and shutdown take extra long. Is
there anyway

mode. Did not try compatible mode as that shouldn't have to be disabled.
