got to my mind, but I pulled the firmware and kernel from your PPA this

This issue just started reappearing since about one week back on my XPS
15 9550 laptop. I've had the laptop for some time and not had this
issue. I don't know how to get more input to this bug to get it fixed.

I solved my issues by removing the raid configuration from my disks in
the ICHR utility.
In Jaunty, the drives where available as independent drives dispite the raid,
which is not the case in Karmic.
After the raid was removed, both disks are recognized by karmic as expected.

I've tested it on Intrepid, using the live CD and upgrading the system
with the latest updates.
I couldn't find the system-bell-blur config this time so I tried
reproducing it using blur window and motion blur instead. I tried
reproducing twice. First it bugged out right away, second time I had to

not correctly configured. The machine starts up in 1024x768 screen
resolution (should be 1280x768 by default on this screen).
The configurator gui only offers 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768.

Try running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg" again, this may remove
you external screen configuration and let xorg handle it on-the-fly in a better
way. (it will backup your xorg.conf so dont worry).

Since I had the issue before I might have added the manual loading to
some start script to fix it temporarily. Since I have an upgraded
version I just wanted to make sure that I dont have any such
manipulation still in the system. A bit irrelevant actually. I will
simply test this from the live cd
