I was able to successfully suspend / wake my laptop 3x in a row, by
having the lid-close wired to 'suspend' instead of to 'hibernate'.
I'm tentatively hopeful that suspend at least works reliably... Seems
that hibernate has the problem. I can live with that, for now.

I have an HP NC4400 which is basically the 12.1" screen version of the
NC6000 running kubuntu. I found that doing "echo 0 >
/proc/acpi/video/C085/DOS" fixes my issue with the lid switch not
responding. Ideally there should be a better fix than this though. I'd

I have Jaunty running on a fresh install with all updates including KDE

I can confirm both: drastic improvement as well as problems after

I have the same problem, but with the KDE Network Manager Plasma Widget.
The Card is definitely detected by Networkmanager and even by the widget
itself (hovering over it shows "ttyUSB0 Not connected"), but "mobile
broadband is greyed out and the card is not shown in the list of active
devices.

I have an ATI Radeon mobile in my laptop. After upgrading, before the

That is not correct. I have not tested it with Gears, but have encountered
problems with Facebook. Chat did not work correctly. Since it is not only the
local name which was changed, but also the useragent-string some pages,
especially those which make heavy use of newer browser technologies tes

regardless, the behavior still exists. I've basically given up on

Retried 6.06LTS and there is nothing in casper.log. When trying 6.06
the splash gets to mounting root filesystem, which doesnt suceed.
going `ls /cdrom` from the busybox shell shows that /cdrom is empty, I
presume this is where the live file system is supposed to be?

removed Hauppage PCI card, SATA HDD and USB Flash drive and still get
the same problem

pulled an IDE HDD, with a working install of Fiesty + kernel updates etc
from another machine and it boots just fine, dmesg attached.

reduce the console spew? so you can see what is actucally happening.
Have you tried booting without the quiet and splash kernel command line
options and then scrolling back through the obot messages to see where
it dies?
