While I totally understand the need to localise the Greeter and appreciate the work that's going towards it – I'm afraid in this particular case I have to disagree (this is after consulting another Hebrew speaker in the design team). One of the main design memes of the Unity Greeter is that it

[Bug 840777] Re: Muting sound indicator in Unity Greeter does not mute sound on login

I don't seem to be affected by this. The sound setting is carried over from login to desktop and vice versa – all fine. That works through login/logout, restart and switching user. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu.

I looked into this by wireframing a Change Password type of a user journey. Please have a look at the attached PDF – if you open it in a proper viewer you should also be able to go through it by clicking on the hotlinked buttons (Continue, Back etc.) I'm optimistic that this pattern can solve a

2011-09-02 Thread Mika Meskanen
As for enlarging the login box dynamically… We've had a very reductionist apporach to the login experience. Minimalistic layout, alignment with Unity, no user pictures. There's richness to the behaviour though – the login carousel moves vertically, in other words, it's all on rails and very

Yep, if short name means username then as a technical detail it shouldn't be exposed. I thought short name is something like a person's own policy on their name. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu.

[Bug 834878] Re: Unity greeter password field uses old-fashioned asterisks

I think asterisks were used instead of bullets for aesthetic reasons – i.e. to leverage the delicacy of the Ubuntu font. However, if that strongly conflicts with an established pattern and is inconsistent with anything else, we can revert to bullets for sure. -- You received this bug

[Bug 827713] Re: Handles long names poorly

2011-08-31 Thread Mika Meskanen
Right, this is an interesting bug to resolve! Depending on the width of the login box there's a limit on how many characters we can display in the name field. Thus, some sort of truncation and/or abbreviation mechanism is needed. Chris, how would you prefer your name to be treated in such case?
