Touchpad detection requires a driver that does actually work with the
touchpad. Unfortunately, Alps seems unwilling to release any
documentation on the protocol used by the device.
I create most of the document types from the specification, as well as
the corresponding OpenOffice 1.x formats, using OpenOffice. The problem
was reproducible for all files but the .odt file.

I get a similar output when provoking the bug with gnome-system-monitor,
although the part where the device is suddenly removed and reinitialized
a few seconds later (959.866236-982.994272) does not occur. The call
