In my case, the bug appeared immediately after upgrading from lucid to
maveric. I moved .mozilla to .mozilla-bak. Afterwards, firefox starts
and sometimes it's possible to surf to one other website than the start

In my case, the problem appears on all encryption methods (unencrypted,
WEP, WPA2) and on two differend APs. The more traffic I produce, the
sooner the connection breaks up. On heavy usage, it dies after a few
seconds.

While logged in as the first user, everything - even desktop effects - runs
fine.
Then switching to the second user via fast-user-switch, the system crawls down:
start firefox and scroll down a large page. It will take a while.

I should mention that in my case (Dell Inspiron 9400 with Intel 82801G
(Ich7) HDA (rev 01)) the volume (especially of LFE) can be controlled
seperatly again so I can set the same values to master, pcm and lfe
manually. That's better than nothing.

I've tested kwin now. The desktop effects use opengl (at least in my
case) and I get the same freezing as described here and in Bug # 350933.
I'm still not sure if this problem is kwin specific or opengl specific.
Interestingly, the gnome desktop effects work fine. What renderer is
used by gnome?
This suggest it's not a kwin specific problem like suggested in Bug #
350766 but a driver related one.

Could you post your /val/log/Xorg.0.log (as an attachment, not inline)?
I assume you use radeonhd. I vaguely remember having issues with the
radeonhd driver. Try to use ati, perhaps this helps??

card, this time not in connection with kwin (didn't test), but with 3d
apps. Witch driver do you use? Considering my bug, I assume it's driver

I experience a similar problem: When on battery, Gnome sometimes doesn't
respond on keyboard input and I cannot move windows with the mouse. But
after changing to a viartual console (CTRL+ALT+F1) and back to X,
everything is fine again for a while. But the problem reappears after
some time.
