enclosure and installed a 1.5tb sata hard drive in it. I download
torrents using trnasmission directly to the external. What happens is, I
will open transmission with the hard drive connected, it will start

Thanks for that. Can I suggest that mentions of base_config are removed from
the example Preseed file (ubuntu/doc/install/manual/example-preseed.txt.gz
from Ubuntu 6.06.1 Alternate CD-ROM) to avoid this sort of confusion in the
future.
