Same problem with sound, same log entries. Fresh 10.04 system
(2.6.32-24-generic x86_64) with ATI video and C-Media sound.
Banshee is not usable at all after 30 seconds of playing. VLC sound and
video playback become jittery after 10-15 minutes, then stops. Tried to
switch VLC to ALSA in VLC
I have a similar problem with proprietary nvidia dirver(195.36.24 from
repository), but system hand on Xorg startup. I began think that this is
hardware problem, but one guy told me to update the driver to 265, and
it works. Also, he said that the problem may be caused by incorrect
loading
Seems that I found the root of that problem. It is in console-cyrillic
package. When I removed it, the bug has disappeared.

problem appears when the path to eps-file contains non-latin letters.
The temporary ps-files, which Kdvi and Okular produce for rasterizing,

Okay, I have a lot of free space and the same problem: my «Applications»
menu is empty after I tried to hide a wine menu item.
There's no need to delete your customized menu!
