[Bug 159248] Re: Microphone does not work in Gutsy 7.10 64bit

The position_fix value is a part of the line you added: snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=6stack Although this deals with DMA pointers and shouldn't be the cause of your problem. Take a look at the ALSA Documentation info for your chipset: 925 AD1988 926 6stack

Fixed! Try editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base as root (i.e. sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base) and adding the following to the end of the file: options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=3stack Then restart the system (restarting alsa wasn't enough for me). Good luck! -- Microphone does not

I confirm this behavior. Currently running Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10, amd64) on ASUS P5NSLI, Intel Core 2 Duo E6420, 2GB RAM. I've tried all settings in Volume Control, alsamixer, alsamixergui and qamix, and have also attempted to change settings in /etc/esound/esd.conf. Still no microphone output,
