Just a note that we're closing this against linux-source-2.6.22 as it
does not qualify for an SRU candidate. You can learn more about the
stable release update process at

Gutsy Thinkpad R40E keyboard failure
Hi
I have booted using the new hardy kernel and everything seems fine so
far. The boot time was also much reduced, presumably due to a more
refined resolution of power management issues.
Thanks

Hi Phillip,
The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to

OK booting with apci=off sorts it out! Rather wish I had done this
first now :) Come to think of it, when Dapper originally went onto
this machine, it would not boot at all without apci=off, so I never
saw the effect of the OS on the keyboard under these circumstances.

Happy to do so, but right now Gutsy is not installed and I have been
working from Live CD (tried to put Dapper back on but for some
unexplicable reason the original CD I have hangs up half way through
install). So I can try and reinstall Gutsy and switch apci to off. It

Hi Phillip,
What an odd little bug. Does anything interesting show up in dmesg
after you've attempted to type unsuccessfully? Also, I think you may
have had a typo with your lspci command. Care to try again and attach
the log file?
sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log
Can you also try booting
Tried a Live Cd of Fawn and same problem occurs, but slightly less
severe. Reports attached.

Tried to upload version.log and lpci log but both appear to be empty
according to the upload error message. Are the other two sufficient

Hi Phillip,
Thanks for the report. Assigning to the kernel as this seems specific to
your hardware. Could you please attach the the debugging information
described on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies ? Thanks.
