Anyway, the solution to my problem was an updated firmware for my WD5000YS
hard drive.
SOLVED
It is a seagate drive which can limit the link speed itself to 1.5 Gbps by
setting a jumper.

At this speed the interface runs stable.
The root cause is still uncertain but this is a workaround with no
drawbacks, since the

On my system, I see the problem every few months. On my system,
everything will be working fine, and then out of the blue sdb stops
responding to SATA commands completely, and not even a shutdown -r now

I added these lines to libata-core.c
{ ST980813ASG,3.ADD,ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
{ ST980813ASG,NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ, },
and built a new kernel.
While it mysteriously took a while to boot the new kernel and gave me
loads of errors right after the
*sigh* No, it occurred again...
I know that custom kernels are not supported, but maybe this helps
anyway, so I post the logs. Please note that this kernel contains the
also attached libata-core.c.
