I'm experiencing the same problem with a sony vaio VGN-FW140E. I tried Hardy,
Intrepid (alpha's, beta's, official release), fedora 9, and many intel drivers
up to 2.4.2 and with many kernel's until 2.6.27. I really think this issue
relates only to the
Same problem here, with sony vaio fw-140e. I tried Hardy, Intrepid (alpha,
beta, rc), fedora 9 and kernel 2.6.27 from git, installing intel drivers 2.4.x
with apt and compiling 2.5 from source.
could it be related with bug
I am experiencing a similar issue on my Sony Vaio VGN-FW140E
(GM45/x4500mhd). I've tried compiling and installing the latest intel
drivers (2.5.0) - they installed successfully - but still didn't fix the
problem. VGA output works fine, but LVDS is useless. When X starts, the
screen flashes white,
Hi ersan,
Thanks for including an image to demonstrate the issue. Could you also please
attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file
from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your
/etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
Installation of Intrepid Alpha 6 worked.
When I booted Vista and then boot into Ubuntu the splash screen crashes.
Booting into rescue (without splash) works fine.
On shutdown there is a lot of flickering, but no crash.

First of all, there is no version 2.04 of Ubuntu. I'm sure you mean
8.04. Or are you talking about the x.org intel driver which is version
2.4.0?
1) The graphics chipset should be supported in Intrepid Ibex. I suggest you try
that out. Alpha 5 can be found here:

Hello from Germany,
so i got this new toshiba u400 m14 notebook (very nice) with this new Intel
X4500HD (G45) graphiccard.
So i got an preinstalled vista what i wiped from the system an installed
vista business.
- then i resized the partition to have an 15gb
Thank yes i changed the version name... it's 8.04 (the actual one
release from ubuntu.com)
- other people told me that it works with an alpha version. BUT its an
alpha version, that could have more bug's as the official release 8.04
?!
- in recovery console i've configured my eth card so i got a
OK i cant fix the problem.
bu thats generally the problem on linux based systems...the
compatibility - how can it be that an old final of backtrack3 support
my graphicscard and an and old Windows XP system from 2002 ?? and ubuntu
8.04 cant ?!
that scares people from ubuntu OS with time .. like
It is correct that it's possible there are other bugs in the 8.10 alpha
just as well as there are bugs in all software. But why not try it out
and see if it works for you? You could at the same time provide feedback
to the Ubuntu guys in order to give them the information they need to
ensure that
well yes you've right.
i installed the alpha and report any bugs for doing my part to the community.
.so i tried alpha 5 and it works fine with my card.
