Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
After upgrading from 8.10 to 9.04 beta, audio ceased to function
correctly. The external speaker on the computer (HP Mini 1030NR) no
longer plays any audio. The headphone port will play audio briefly,
then switch to loud static and crackles.

ok, seems like my version of ffmpeg is a little bit more tolerant than yours.
copy the attached file to $KDEDIR/share/apps/soundkonverter/plugins ($KDEDIR
may be your local or global kde directory, i would prefer the global directory;
there you should overwrite the old plugin file).

I can confirm that when changing kaffeine to use 'alsa' instead of
'auto' (pulseaudio) as suggested, I no longer observe the problem. There
is a bit of delay between hitting the pause button and it actually
pausing, presumably due to the length of the audio buffer, but this is
not a serious

I tried creating a symlink to python2.6 as python2.5, but gdesklets
didn't run. Installing python2.5 fixed it.
