Same behavior here. A brand new installation of a amd64 Ubuntu 14.04
(dual boot win 8) which resulted in a a broken grub2 ("symbol
'grub_term_highlight_color' not found"). This is fresh install, no grub-
install. Grub2 is normaly on /dev/sda.
Using the BIOS Boot menu (or Super Grub 2 disk) is

reset to default. I tried copying my old xml from a 12.10 xubuntu to the
current 14.04, without luck. Eg. trying to set maximize window to
Super+q does not work (nor dozen of other shortcuts). :(

When I close the lid, the screen becomes blank and the mouse cursor freezes

I hit this today while upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04 as well. I have 3 hard
drives, 2 with just data . I first did a standard upgrade with Update manager,
then did a compleate reinstall after downloading the 32bit download to a USB

Hi,
I managed to solve this error and do the upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04.
If you have the Xorg-edgers PPA enabled you have to purge it first, in
order to revert to the original config. However, I thought I just had to
remove the PPA from my software sources and be done with it. That didn't
work (

As workaround, you can press a key while the livecd boots up (with the
keyboard symbol at the bottom) and chose there your language. After
this, the live-session and the graphical installer has the correct
language and keyboard settings.

Confirmed for 14.04 trusty. – Better visible on the CPU impact on
compiz.
The bug is: panel-updates (seconds on the clock, or system monitor
multiload) use excessive CPU with unity. Netbook CPUs like Atom N270
need 5% for that... :-(

To me this looks fine. It's certainly better looking than an unthemable
border, which will look bad with any theme. I think the only way this
could look any better is by redo'ing the theme.
