Hi,

Same behavior here. A brand new installation of a amd64 Ubuntu 14.04
(dual boot win 8) which resulted in a a broken grub2 ("symbol
'grub_term_highlight_color' not found"). This is fresh install, no grub-
install. Grub2 is normaly on /dev/sda.

Using the BIOS Boot menu (or Super Grub 2 disk) is my only possibility
to boot Ubuntu (maybe also with grub_rescue).

None of the propositions (grub install, dpkg-reconfigur, boot-repair
...) above fixed the issue.

There is clearly a bug somewhere.
