I can confirm this bug. I get exactly the same symptoms described in the second comment. About ftp urls : gnome-open freezes on them (does'nt do anything but does'nt terminate either), evolution freezes when clicking on an ftp:// links in an email, nautilus can't open ftp folders anymore, etc.

Unfortunately, just before upgrading to Feisty I replaced my framebuffer capture card with a hardware encoding card (bt878-based card to a WinTV PVR 500), so I can no longer reproduce this problem. (The mpeg-2 files produced by the PVR card are obviously controlled by the hardware encoder.) --
