I am an ubuntu user for about a year and never faced a problem like this
one. Today I downloaded Ubuntu 7.10 from ubuntu.com and installed it on
my laptop. At first, totem was able to play sound video files without
a problem. But after installing

Totem won't
I cannot play any video from any web page with totem on the latest hardy on
amd64.
There simply is no video played and if i cick on the window i get the
error: Stream contains no data.
Stragne enaught, if i uninstall the totem plugin for mozilla, i can
instal vlc witch says no video also.

group and everything is working now. After add your user to the kvm
group you have to log off an log in.

Editor: when changing Sending mail/Server Type, IMAP Headers tab is duplicated
I'm wondering if the loss of audio is related to loss of alsa dmix, my
pre-hardy home gnome prefences and pulse audio and multiple user logins.
I'l check into that, it may have been that totem gstreamer (which I
don't use for poor dvd menu support) couldn't play ANY audio.

to install message is likely due to the fact you can't access that file
from the location you're firing gpilot-install-file from, check what the
path to your file is, cd to that directory and then try the same

Afaik you don't need the layout parameter anymore since this is handled through
xrandr.

I've had similar problems with the Intel HDA, especially in Hardy.
First check to make sure all Amplifier/Auxiallary is shut off.
(gnome-alsamixer).
Then restart alsa (ctrl+alt+backspace afterwards).

not-repro.
