My gnome-terminal uses forced line wrap only. Thus, no matter what the
terminal window is, it wraps lines on line 80. It makes the reading of
the output in many cases very inconvenient.
Is it capable to auto-wrap instead? If yes, how to turn it on?

Hmm sounds odd... its possibly due to a HDD power down, and not powered
up. Have you disabled all your power settings in the BIOS?
A log file that might help you diagnose is /var/log/messages - if there
is anything interesting in there, post it here and we'll have a look.

Hi Andy - I get decent performance by installing the appropriate
codecs (ubuntu-restricted-extras) and then mplayer and it's firefox
plugin (mozilla-mplayer *I think*). I can then watch BBC News 24
clips, stream BBC radio without the need to install RealPlayer :)
