Hi christian, I might be experiencing the same issue, also with a Radeon
Xpress 200M.
However, I could not reproduce using the vesa driver. This might be
because the VT's and X used the same resolution (800x600), possibly

I have already downgraded my Fujitsu S6010 to ubuntu 8.04 and xserver-
xorg-video-i810_1.7.4-0ubuntu7_i386.deb, it is work very stable and
fine. So i will not upgrade it anymore again in any future. 830M chipset
is closed in update system, such as ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10. I upgraded to

nvidia have NOT acknowledged the problem, despite my multiple attempts
to get them to do so. I highly recommend contacting them in any way

I have more serious problems with this driver. I doesn't let me boot Ubuntu
9.10 when enabled. I had to disable it using a live cd to boot. I found that

1. copied the default XOrg configuration from /var/log/Xorg.*.log (it is
printed there) into /etc/X11/xorg.conf;
2. Edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and disabled the ATI driver section;
3. bounced X.
Now I am running with VESA, and can work nice

frustrated about all these "Enable Sync To VBlank in Compiz"-Answers. So
I started to get into this Compiz- and nVidia-Constellation and searched

I was programming in Netbeans in C++, then the X windows system restarts

Confirmed for Karmic 9.10 on an ASUS EEE PC 1000he / Intel GMA 950.
It only happens when Monitor hasn't been plugged in at boot time.
Sometimes I can avoid it by switching Fn-F8 into mirror both screens.
Using gnome-display-manager after that works fine in most cases - any
resolution.

I tried them out with Karmic. My result is: no freezes happend with none of the
kernels freezetest1, freezetest8 and freezetest9.
My graphic card is a Intel 855 and shows this values in lspci:

I think I have the same issue since I upgraded to Karmic.
I have an Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 and an Amilo LSL 3230T screen which has a
native resolution of 1920*1080. At the login screen the resolution is correct
but after I login it switches to 1440*900. It is possible to change it back
manually
Bug was introduced with 2.6.31-rc7 (just finished going through a bunch of
kernels)
Also, Karmic is also affected.

I connected a flat panel to VGA port of an Asus Eee Box with Ubuntu. The
monitor was mounted in portrait mode so I set up screen rotation from gnome

I installed a completely new ubuntu 9.10 Karmic and followed the advice
of #61 Woko. But the dual view does not work. X can not find any device
and uses always the failsafe config of xorg.conf.
