The problem is that xorg *usually* doesn't recognize the screen so it uses a
lower resolution 800x600. The only available resolutions are 640x480 and

I have just tried with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.8.1-1, the system crashes on
boot, particularly, when gdm login starts.
I have disabled compiz and seems to work. With the driver
xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4 seems there aren't problems, no crashs with this
driver. I have tried with ubuntu

resolution is by restarting the Xserver at the login GDM/KDM login
screen, until it gives up and decides to probe the hardware for a

My touch screen is supposed to be connected on COM 5 (which is an
internal com port, not external)

now use the keyboard). I'm leaving the xorg task open, as I'm not sure

I've attached a video of my touchpad spazzing out as I try moving around
with two or three fingers. Unfortunately, gtk-recordmydesktop can't
keep up with the desktop drawing under compiz, and I need compiz to get
the showmouse flame-ring. Observe how it leaves trails from movements
way too fast
An attempt at making the spazzing more visible: Annotate plugin.
I would imagine fixing the multi-finger detection should fix this spazzing
cursor issue.

I have the same laptop as #61 and the same exact problems as he does,

Thanks for your comment on the upstream bug. Sounds like the issue is
resolved now so I'll close this bug report.
The problem seems to be resolved in Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 2 with kernel 2.6.32,
X.org 7.5 with X-Server 1.7. I boots and instals normally, compiz is working as
well.

Understood, but it is unfortunate that ubuntu doesn't care about fixing
what it broke just becuse it is from 3rd party, while in the same time
doesn't provide any other alternatives. That driver was the only
solution we found to operate our tablets on ubuntu and based on that I
made the decision
