Understood, but it is unfortunate that ubuntu doesn't care about fixing what it broke just becuse it is from 3rd party, while in the same time doesn't provide any other alternatives. That driver was the only solution we found to operate our tablets on ubuntu and based on that I made the decision

Also see bug #508456 regarding upstart problems on this laptop, which may be related to these display driver problems. Current issues remaining are: Unusable consoles - colored gibberish on the screen. Starting up in graphics mode results in wrong resolution, without an xorg.conf file.
