updates on a fresh install of Beta 2. nvidia_96 fails to install
properly, Then after a reboot, GDM crashes after clicking on a user. GDM
restarts after a few seconds. I switched to tty1 and sudo stop gdm &&
startx. Gnome desktop

True, I can suffer with any other multi-mon mode if I must have Compiz,
but I prefer Xinerama. As I said earlier, Compiz has worked with
Xinerama on this hardware as recently as Beta 1 + a few days of updates.
This incident came from the 20100331.2 daily ISO with updates from the

with compiz. I was able to solve the issue with the ati box by:
-Opening Catalyst Control Panel
-Display Manager
-Multi-Display tab
-Set to "Multi-display desktop with display(s) 1"

Antelmo, please file your own bug report instead of reopening this
one. At this point in time we are no longer interested in new bug
reports for Karmic, only for Lucid.

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but why does this bug remain "incomplete"?
Which information is missing? And why does it not get assigned to

This bug is really a showstopper for anyone with this video card.

Did the partial distribution upgrade to Beta2 this morning, plus a
hundred or so updates later in the day (including some nvidia packages).
Unfortunately, this bug still exists. Can not log in normally! Seems
like a pretty important bug to me. Is anyone else worried by the seeming
lack of movement
Also: It appears this may be the same problem as bug #231697.

with my 82945g Intel video card, I try to install Ubuntu Karmic but no
dice and now i try with Latest Ubuntu Beta 10.04 and it keep on freezing

First of all do a sudo apt-get autoremove to remove all those packages.

xorg-driver-fglrx package which no longer exists. Try to sudo apt-get

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-mga
There are flashing stipes in the right end of video window, even when
playback is paused. Changing window size changes the effect; it might be
unvisible in big enough window. Have not seen this effect by other
graphics cards. Tested
I have "static", it does not show up on screenshots.
Another interesting thing: "static" is dependent on color. There are absolutely
no glitches on clean colors (red, green, blue). Corruption begins on tones
closer to gray, and on the perfect gray there is the heaviest "static".
