my system setup to boot with automatic logon which has been fine until now.
I punched in my user name password then sudo reboot after which the system
seems an nvidia driver issue

Thank you very much for the patch. It completely solved the freeze windows
management problem.
But the proposed workaround for the memory leak problem does not work for me.
Typically xorg will use around 250m after X started. Then the memory use will
grow to around 3G after one day. (this is
+1 confirmed on Dell Inspiron 1545 with Intel Corporation Mobile 4
Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) on gnome. No
problems using karmic. Random flickering on the bottom quarter of screen
started after upgrade.

I have a 4GB machine but the installation process installed a non-PAE kernel,
causing only 3GB to be available. I manually installed the PAE generic kernel
package (BUT FORGOT TO INSTALL THE HEADERS PACKAGE FOR IT) and
ZeroBeat, I tried your xorg.conf, didn't work for me. nvidia keeps
crashing and giving me low-res modes in cold boots in my K50IN. It only
happens in cold boots, though, as soon as I reboot I have the
proprietary drivers working, very odd and very annoying as well.

the same machine, the bug look to be fixed, i tried with and without
Nvidia drivers, so i am not really sure that was the Nvidia drivers,

After latest NVIDIA updated, which happened a few days ago, the issues
seemed to have been fixed. At least for me. I fully re-created xorg.conf
with nvidia-settings and everything works fine. So from my perspective
this bug can be closed.

Dual monitor display does not work when secondary is
I do not know if it is the same bug that I have, I don't have the
drmRadeonCmdBuffer message in dmesg, but I have many of the above
described simtomes:
1) With disabled desktop effects windows refresh and scroll is very slow;
2) enabling desktop effects improves speed, but makes xorg crash and
here is Xorg.0.log:

If it happens the visual effect can even be seen, while booting, before
the login screen. The login screen is always ok, but afterwards the
effect reappears.

Sorry, I wrote /usr/include but I kept thinking about /usr/lib/ (as
nvidia drivers store several components in /usr/lib/nvidia-current in
order to work with the new alternatives system), hence my comments.
I'll fix the installation path of the headers.
