I received the same error with Ubuntu 10.10 and everything updated to
the lastest versions today. I found that disabling Xinerama stopped the
problem from occurring. My backtrace was almost identical to that above
on 11/23/2010.
My NVidia drivers are: 260.19.06 running on 64-bit system.

laptop. The laptop LCD is display / desktop 1, the external monitor is

By the way using drivers 256.53.xx just flicks time to time, so I guess

I noticed the same problem. I'm running Lucid, but the corrupted text
rendering appeared after I manually upgraded xserver-xorg-video-intel.
Lucid has version 2.9, and reverting to that release fixes the issue for
me, but all versions between 2.11 and 2.13 exhibit the symptoms

I had the same problem with a P7P55D-E-Premium mother board running 64 bit
versions of both Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. No issue with Ubuntu 9.10. Switching
to a USB mouse would make the mouse work but of course not the keyboard.
I understand the asus_atk0110 driver gives information for the fans.
