Both dexconf and its man page have been removed from 11.04. I think what
happened is that dexconf was intentionally disabled, because it was obsolete,
but nobody bothered to update the man page in 10.10.

Interestingly, on my ThinkPad W510 scrolling with two fingers sometimes
works, sometimes doesn't since I installed Natty. Previously, it would
never work unless I used the workaround.

This bug happens on my system as well. Everything worked fine in 10.10,
and now the system freezes after 5-10 seconds when I log into a window
manager that uses compositing (kwin, compiz, ...). Rebooting is the only
option.
Using xorg-edgers doesn't solve the problem. Disabling ACPI doesn't
solve
Please note that I *almost* blindly launched the upgrade to 11.04, and
the first steps, I had no warning whatsoever.

even after shutdown/restart but the problem reappears after suspend.

My machine boots into a blank screen, except the times it gives me the
option to boot into recovery mode at boot up. Then if I run failsafex
graphic from the menu I get a decent GUI. Maybe the answer is to just
have a way to always boot in failsafe mode.

I don't have .Xmodmap here on default installation.. I think it is useful only
for mapping keyboard keys.
So I can't reproduce your workaround here.

Xserver crashed (landed me back at the gdm login); it happened just
after I'd opened a page in firefox - nothing too special, it had some
flash in but nothing too unusual and the page reopened fine now.

Same problem here, since I don't know how to go back to noveau, I'm staying
with the latest Desktop (Gnome) and Nvidia driver.
Please, please, please I want Unity!

I also have the same problem on a fresh install, running 2 GTS-250s in SLI.
Additional Drivers shows that Nvidia Current is active, but not in use.
I have tried reinstalling the kernel headers, as well as the nvidia-current
package, neither of which has worked.

No brightness
The problem has changed a bit with the upgrade to Natty, whoever there
still remains problems with initializing the proprietary nvidia driver.
I now see the following line in my Xorg log:
[17.160] (EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Compatible NVIDIA X
driver not found)
