Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately that won't work. We have a
roaming profile (LDAP+NFS), so basically that monitors.xml file will be
used no matter what desktop environment I use; the triple screen setup
works just fine in 12.04 and Mint Maya but not on Trusty.

I've got a problem with 14.04 on a machine with an ATI Radeon HD 7750
after upgrading from 13.10. With the opensource drivers it shows garbled
desktop where the pointer acts normally. With the proprietary drivers I
don't even get to the desktop after loggi
Kudos to getting right-click behaviour like in Windows/Android. I manage to get
a near to natural timing of the click using .22sec as the secondary click
timing (using dconf). This behaviour is still really unnatural because you
never know when you get it right until you lift up the finger.

I tried connecting the cable for the 17" monitor and ran my usual
command of xrander to get dual monitors:
xrandr --output DVI-0 --right-of DVI-1 --auto
Good news, it actually setup dual displays with extended desktop as it
usually did ...
... but the computer was frozen. I rebooted

I disconnected one of the monitors (the 17" 1280x1024) and now the
radeon driver is driving the display.
It's running fullscreen at max resolution but Xorg will fall back to
fbdev if I plug the monitor back in and restart Xorg.

Same issue on an Lenovo ThinkPad T510 (i7 with nvidia NVS 3100M with
nvidia 331 drivers) running XFCE (Xubuntu). It seems as if light locker
in combination with dbus causes the problem.
