Hi Chris,
meanwhile my current kernel is 3.16.1-46.1.g90bc0f1
I'm wondering (after a reinstall) that the semaphore bug hasn't occured yet,
which was the case before (after a fresh install).
This leads me to 4 definable possible reasons:
1. the named kernel revision somehow contains a fix for
2. of course I meant cgroup_disable=memory

No, this is **NOT** an nVidia (or any driver) problem (emphasis because
the common misconception seems to be that it is an nVidia/ATI/AMD
proprietary driver issue, even I shared this misconception before
looking at the code). It is a problem with the implementation of the

The problem is still there in RHEL 6.6 beta, xorg-x11-server-
Xorg-1.15.0-16.el6.x86_64.
In the end, is this more a Nvidia driver problem ? I can confirm that I
see this issue only using Nvidia driver, not Nouveau nor Intel.
I've managed to fix it using the patch provided.

As someone whom does not understand code and bug fixing, I have just one
question. Is it safe to run my update manager again or should I keep
waiting a bit longer before I do?
I don't want to brick my system.

@Devin: If you've installed this update and are having the same problems
we are having, then running the update manager won't do you any harm.
There is a pretty good QA system in place to prevent an update from
bricking someone's machine. If you have similar hardware (Thinkpad W530
or whatever)

Because there are approximately zero active Xorg developers with enough
