Chris:
I don't agree that this is an [fglrx] issue. I thought so at the

via xorg.conf. Surely that means it's an i915 issue.

Could you tell me how to add this ppa:mainline repository? I've added

Ok thanks. I've downloaded all .deb files for my system (macbook 2,1; 64
bit) and installed it.

I have this problem since I think 12.04. Yesterday I reinstalled the 64
bit version of Ubuntu on my macbook and while only had 11.10 on cdrom I
started with this version to upgrade to raring. On 11.10 I didn't see
the problem (but also didn't test this version much) from 12.04 on I see
an error

Public bug reported:
The packages nvidia-current and nvidia-current-updates have a fixed
dependency to linux-headers.
This will run in a conflict if only linux-headers-generic-lts-quantal
is installed.
Solution: add a alternate dependency to linux-headers-generic-lts-
quantal and all later
** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu)

Yes, this seems to be fixed for me now on Kubuntu 12.04 using libdrm
from precise-proposed on a Dell Precision T1650 with Xeon E3-1225 V2
CPU P4000 integrated graphics.
Thanks - much appreciated.

I am running an older build (11.10) on the same system (64 bit Toshiba
A665). Same problem - purple bar at top and frozen system at shutdown.
The thread above indicates the problem is back - does this mean there is
no resolution yet? Will this continue after I upgrade to 12.04 or 12.10?
