Not any longer for me. I've fought with it too long without any true fix
and have since abandoned Ubuntu 12.02 for Linux Mint 13 with zero
problems.

Hi Daniel, sleep disabled. I wasn't using any screen savers or anything.
I could be doing anything from working on my conky in gedit, reading a
text document, to watching a video, didn't matter how hard I was using

@ Christoph ... I thought others were having issues with Ubuntu 12.10
also ? I have since switched to Mint 13 Cinnamon 64bit and it has been
absolutly flawless. I miss the Lens and certain aspects of Unity, but
with stability like this who cares.

Same here with Nvidia update. Tried every solution with no help except for the
xorg.conf fix in #37, works again ;-)
Thanks Doug !

Mark, can you use the latest Nvidia drivers ? For the longest time
Nvidia drivers were problem after problem but they have since fixed them
and now work flawlessly, I haven't had a freeze since installing their
latest.

For those with dedicated Nvidia GC's, Nvidia has apparently fixed their
drivers. I couldn't use them previously due to lack of multiple monitor support
but they now work, which solved the constant hard freezes for me instantly.

Good evening Daniel, I've pushed my system pretty hard running videos on both
monitors while recording video from my hd webcam and every other thing I could
think of and have had not one glitch since the new Nvidia drivers.
Definitely a Nouveau issue.

@ Brad Figg...What exactly does this command do, does it send crash
reports and other relevant information directly to Launchpad ? If so, I
will log back into 3d and can freeze it within 30 seconds lol.

Tryin to think of the possibilities, how would it be a hardware issue as
this a pretty wide range of hardware ? Mine and many others have all new
hardware. That would kinda suck. I just got a bunch of updates so I'm
gonna try 3d again tonight. If it keeps freezing I will create a bug
report for Uni
I tried the ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa two days ago, wasn't any help. Still
experiencing hard freezes in 3d. Unity 2d seems fine still.

Unfortunately the kernel in #117 is a no go for me. I installed it, was

One last question lol. With the command "sudo dpkg -i *.deb", I replace

@ Michael...I'm looking at the fix in #117 again. The i386.deb version that I

I agree, 3d may be the issue. I have a Nvidia graphics card I'm running
from and have been testing on 2d for 2 days now, I haven't been able to
reproduce the freeze. Although I can't stand the 2d environment, it is
stable so far, not one problem. Hopefully some developers notice this
