This sounds like either a memory bug (usually a signal 11) or some type of
processor error. You mentioned this was an older machine? Try reseating the
memory in it.

AFAIK Mandriva has the MCC whilst Fedora has yum, so they both should
take care of package installation/dependencies etc. I don't know
whether FC4 has KDE, but on the Mandriva box I'm now getting used to
it, and I must admit I'm kinda liking it!

Well I decided to go this route.
I'm going to run iTunes and just copy it's database files periodically
to a directory that is available to Slimserver/Linux.
Now what I need to check is the basic setup for using iTunes, but maybe
I should put that in a different thread.

it's been a positive one. I'm sure other distros have lots of goodies
that Fedora lacks. But I've been able to get slimserver running fairly
painlessly on it, and even have delved into more "advanced"
configurations like using

Mandriva is usually pretty easy to install.

This is weird. Those two files/packages are not listed in MCC either
under the 'install' or 'remove' headings, yet I'm sure they were there
on that last install. Any ideas how I can get them installed?

I've reproduced the problem on a Mandriva 10.2 standard install. After
installing slimserver (version 6.1.1-1), it crashes at startup with the
same error message as you've got. It happens that slimserver cannot load
the DBD::SQLite module. That's normal, it is not installed on my
computer. So

select everything that comes up in the install window, and if it still
doesn't work after that then it'll probably be bad news for the SB2. It
shouldn't be this difficult to get one application installed and

Okay, easyUrmpi has completed.
Starting slimserver and immediately checking its status caused the
shell to 'crash'.
Tried rebooting. System crashed whilst shutting down.
Hit 'reset' and rebooted.
Tried starting slimserver, then checking its status, and it comes back
it's stopped.

You need to install the SQLite related DBD, not MySQL. Use MCC to select
the appropriate library.

quite normal, Perl has thousands of add-ons. What is not normal is that
the slimserver rpm should include dependency checking for this. Anyway,
