OK, I see what you mean about the popups. My attempt was not in a table
and I may have inserted a bookmark. I tried bookmarks in the table
(within and outside of a section), but the behavior isn't
satisfactory.
Sorry about the mis-step.

1. What method are you using to protect the document?
2. Do you want to use the tab key to navigate to the fill-in field?
Thanks,

Hmmm... interesting. I must have a setting that causes the pop-up to
occur. I get the pop-up on both OOo 2.2.1 and
I didn't see a pop-up IF box. How did you make it do that? I could
enter data directly into the new field per the previous email.

I did do it, yes. I didn't rewrite the document - I added a section
just above the existing input fields as a test. I then added a new input
field within the section, then saved, closed and made the permissions
read-only. Opened it up and, yes, I could enter data into my new field.

OK, I probably need to make a single post on a topic from now on. But I
did find out how to make the input fields editable in a read-only
document. First convert it from MS doc to OO odt. Then you can create
sections with input fields in them. Then on the menu select Format |

I just found a setting in the Insert Section dialog, Section Tab. There
is a check box to make the Write Protect the section and make it
editable in a Read Only document. That could be helpful.

In MS Word, you place the input fields in a write protected section.
So if OO works the same way, you would have to create a Write Protected
section and put the input fields inside that section.
I gave it a shot, but I am brand new to OO, so I don't know how to
display the section I inserted in

Thank you! This worked by great by customizing the keyboard with your

You can assign certain keys to various functions. For this test we'll
assign F4 (instead of Tab) to move between the fill-in fields. Try this
on one of your templates/forms:
1. Select Tools|Customize|Keyboard
