that some other directories in /var, such as /var/run and
/var/lock, are also machine-specific and cannot be shared over NFS.
See also http://cr.yp.to/qmail/faq/install.html#whyvar.

Most likely it bounced and, because the sender address is fake, bounced
again, ending up in postmaster's mailbox - but *not* being relayed.

Sounds like the badrcptto patch would be useful to you:

Probably a better way to update vpasswd info would be to try to write it
to a new file; if successfully written, the new file can then replace
the old one. (This is how cdb files are updated.)

How about using just
|preline procmail -m /path/to/procmailrc

Well, this is what I thought when I initially set out to do
not tested this, but I think it should work. (Except for the domain
names, of course!)
Of course you can avoid all this if the remote server is configured
to accept mail for the original domain: then you can just change DNS.

that this is untested and changes
only one error report of several in vmysql.c (the one used by Kieran's
vuserinfo example, I think). I might change the others when I'm less busy.
is it supposte to be like that?
No, the patch failed (because of some name changes).

-g89 -u89 0 110 /usr/sbin/qmail-popup HOSTNAME \
/home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /usr/sbin/qmail-pop3d Maildir
89 is the GID and the UID for the vpopmail user. The group is vchkpw.
Try removing -g89 -u89, so that vchkpw can run as root.

It's a pity you couldn't show the real hostname, since that's where the
problem seems to be.

Good morning! :-)
Why are you trying to use both vpopmail and fastforward?
Are the affected domains listed in qmail/control/locals?
