Hi,
We're looking to
back up Sharepoint Portal 2003 and I've noticed a strange bit in the VERITAS

I am sick and tired by the netbackup rman speed.First i though it was

The trace and the logs shows that rman has to wait in reading the data

I have a couple of new Solaris V240 and V440 media servers that will be

What questions do you have _after_ reading the descriptions under "Media
Lists Report," "Media Summary Report" and "Media Server Properties" in
your System Administrator's Guide, Volume I, for starters?
This can happen if the servers already have a persistent connection using a different account. For example if you have a persistent mapped drive that uses a different account name. This connection survives a re-boot and will always show this error
when you attempt to install NBU. You have to disco
There weren't any obvious persistent connections but I've
found it works much better if you use one account for
everything.
I've figured out that the deploy remotely I needed to be
logged onto the Netbackup server using the same credentials that I was going to
use for the Netbackup remote in

All,
I'd be surprised if this wasn't possible but I can't recall ever actually
seeing it done. Is it possible to duplicate an RMAN image (with bpduplicate or

Any opinions to the differences of a tape in

Thanks in advance

I have used mksysb at DR site in the past successfully and will be using
again this month for the upcoming DR test .
I would stick to it - very reliable for DR.

We are in the process of purchasing 70 Unix servers for a large project.
Right now we have a dozen RS/6000's; we perform a nightly mksysb to 8MM

Interesting. I can only speak to my experience which is that you only
enter an SSO license key for each *server* using SSO -- not for each
tape drive, and when we purchased the SSO licenses we only purchased per

Your Veritas confidant had not a clue. Your Symantec advice is correct.
A status code of 0 or 1 results in a "good" backup image and the image
descriptions are saved in the NetBackup catalog.
Vault duplicates images according to the filters you define, not any
status code.

v5.1MP5 has solved a number of problems for us ... by far the best of
the v5.1 MPs, but I'm sure every installation has their hot spots.
The biggest win for us was elimination of phantom tape positioning

My question is this, we duplicate are full backups on a daily basis
