Herl bodies often start at the barb and silk/quill bodies ofton start at the
point.
Roger Fogg - A Handbook of North Country Trout Flies shows a general starting
point between point and barb.
Roger Wooleys flies from the 1930's are started past the

Please clarify what kind of Spiders you are referring to?
Arachnids, like Don is suggesting?
Hewlett's Spider?
Or North Country/Yorkshire Spiders?
If the latter, I can provide _stacks_ of examples

Thanks for the suggestions, but I did not make myself clear. I'm
talking about the English style soft hackle spider fly. On the
internet I see some with the body starting at the point of the hook,
others with it at the barb, and others with it starting somewhere in
between. I'd like to make
North country spiders. Thanks.
