getting the premium for my flies at the shops because I tied them. A lot of
them were bought as collectors flies. This also happens at shows. At the
Conclave last week I had a tyer say I will take your fly because
I was tying a lot of Olive Wooly Buggers, and Chili Peppers. I could tie a
dozen in 45 minuets after putting the beads on the hooks using a Norlander
vise. I would get orders for 15 dozen. I can't do that any more and am getting
too old to even try.
The truth is that I just got burned out on
each year the tier will do a bit
better. I have 4 surgeons and 2 dentists I tie all their flies, they
don't dick around on the price, they order in January and want them in May.

downward off the quill.
It takes longer to get stripped quills but you don't have to smell the bleach.

One difference in the way I do it: When I use the pinch method, instead of
pulling the thread straight down, I bring it on under the hook to the my side
and pull the thread straight UP
results after just a few tries of Tim's method, so maybe Davie's way just
wasn't for me. Who knows? I need to practice it more, but I've got all winter
to catch up on my tying practice :)
