A rule of thumb: sleep mode = powered down harddrives and sleeping
monitor. This is independent of the type of machine you're using (i.e.
Windows box or Macintosh).

If no error codes are shown, you can try opening it and cleaning all
contacts you can find like RAM banks and ROM (if any might be soldered
to the logic board).
Just a general question: does the Powerbook series also suffer from

Flicker on a CRT monitor is often a bad solder joint or a loose connector that
can heal itself as the temperature goes up. If it's more than that I agree

One test for loose things is to give the monitor a good whack with the palm of
your hand while it's flickering. If things change

I'm not sure if my first post made it. I have a Classic that runs
flawlessly. Initially had no audio. Replacing a SINGLE 47uf cap (C4)
fixed the issue. I see no need at this point to risk messing the board
up by replacing all of them. It runs all day, no problems.
