On my iPhone 5, running iOS 7.1.1 (I will update this weekend when I have
time), two-finger double-tap does, indeed, start recording. It does not pause
or stop recording. Thank you for providing me another way to activate Voice
Memos.

Hello,
Here's how I do it.
I use a 2 finger double tap to start a recording and a 2 finger double tap to
pause/stop a recording. In other words, after I pause or stop at least once, if
that's to be the end of the recording, I swipe to done and activate it, then
follow the steps to save.
It work
I usually double-tap with one finger to pause recording as VO does not change
focus. I never thought of using a two-finger double-tap. On an iPhone running
iOS 7.1.1, two-finger double-tap does not pause or stop the recording, so this
may be an older bug.

Wel, I am glad it works for you. Anyone else that can reproduce my problem by
any chance?
Strange that both the phones in our household are having the same issue.
Wonder what could cause it. software but then why is it device speciffic?

I wrote to accessibility and they got back saying they could not reproduce this.
I used 2 iphone 5 7.12 to test this and got same bug.
