They are pretty loud and pretty annoying. From what I know, you have to be
in the geographic area of an alert for them to sound. For instance if an
alert was given for Edgewood, and you were in Baltimore, you wouldn't get

Hello. I have the free tornado app from the American Red Cross. When we had a
tornado a month ago, my phone was sitting on its charger with all apps closed.
The thunder was rumbling outside. I could hear it started to rain.
All of a sudden a loud siren sounded followed by a voice saying,
