I think
siri has issues with text messages, because if you stop speaking, and you try
to continue, she does not get it and thinks you want to send another message
instead of just continuing with the one you were first sending! If someone
knows how to make
siri not do this, please inlighten
Heather, can you tell us, word for word, what you are saying when you
press and hold the home button to send a text message. Also, tell us
when you pause and for how long? This might help determine where things
are going wrong. I also remember a while back there was some discussion
on the list
Hello Heather,
If I use SIRI and say Text John Smith, Hello John, meet me in 1 hour and
please bring thie keyboard you wanted to show me and if I pause for maybe 2
seconds in between meet me in 1 hour and and bring the keyboard you
wanted to show me then SIRI will assume I am done, repeat what
I said in send a message to Crystal and she said okay what would like to

is over, I paused for about a minute while I was doing something and I
pushed the hold to speak button and Well the texans won, I am bringing
Hi, that explains it. If you pause for more than 2 seconds, Siri assumes
you are done. Remember that using Siri is for doing something right
there and then. So, if you will be sending out a text message which
requires some longer pausing for your thoughts or for you to do
something else in
Not withstanding that you may have employed Siri to compose and address a text
message, you still have the option of locating the “SEND” button and activating
that via the double tap gesture.
I realize that may not be what you’re looking for in an answer, but it would
help you out for the time
I don't know the history of SIRI and the dictate feature, but as with
all large companies, it's possible that they were developed separately
by two different teams, or one technology was acquired from another
company. In a situation like this, it's possible that Apple would merge
the two
it seems as though the screen automatically locks if you do not say send
right away, I have my iphone set to never auto lock and this issue only
happens when the headphones are plugged in, and I would tap the Send button
but then what's the point of me using siri? In addition, I have physical/
So, no one is having issues composing text messages using Siri and headphones?

I too have experience this siri text message bug and it looks as though ios
6 has a lot more accessibility related bugs than previous versions, to be
fair though ios 6 does also have some enhancments.

Hi Mark,
Isn't it clear that if you had serious problems installing iOS 6 that SIRI
would be affected? *smile*
But joking aside, I had this strange problem that the playback controls
weren't showing up consistently in the lock screen after a double press of
the home button. Since I use this
Siri does not have problems sending text. I have sent several text messages
with the screen locked and unlocked. THe only problem appears to be while using
headphones.

Yes,
I can confirm the difference in behavior with VO off while using Siri.
Actually, its a better experience while VO is off with not having to press the
home button or listen to provide more information.

How about sending them all reports that we would like the feature to work the

And to further the point it would be almost impossible to have Siri go into
listening mode when VO is on because Siri would pickup VO and interpret what is
being said.

Hello Everyone,
To those of you who may not know, When using Siri to send a text message,
the screen locks before completing the process. It does not matter how long
the auto-lock is set.
NOTE 1:
If the message is short enough, only one word, for instance, Siri may
successfully send the text
I have sent several messages using Siri the same way and no problems

I never use auto lock, so
Siri just plain is having problems with texts. Have not tried texting in a
locked screen, but if you are in Siri she will not send even on home screen. You
have to get out of Siri. Then she will send the text!
