Greetings,
I have my home PC configured to Run Listening VNC Viewer, and the PC has a
static IP address of 192.168.2.10 behind a wireless Belkin router. I have
port-forwarded TCP ports 5500
on the
listening machine saying read: Connection reset by peer (10054). If I
click OK in the pop-up, the same message appears two more times, at which
point the VNC server machine reports Connection failed. Any idea why this
is failing? It doesn't seem to be a port-forward problem.
Any help

Or the other way round if upgrading the server to a newer version is
not feasible in a short period of time: use your old version of the
viewer to see if the problem is still there. If it isn't there, just
use the old version in the meanwhile.
PS: In case you don't know yet. There's nothing
Hello,
I am using the VNC Viewer Free Edition v4.1.2 on a Windows 2000 SP4
computer.
I used to be able to connect to a WinVNC Server v3.3.3 R9 on a Windows
2000 SP4 computer. I am now getting the following error message when
attempting to connect:
If I click Yes, I keep getting the
with messages like the following: read: Connection reset

My /etc/xinetd.d/vnc file is:
service vnc1
{
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = nobody
server = /usr/bin/Xvnc
server_args = :1 -inetd -once -query localhost
Anyone has solution of the following issue?

Hi Stephen,
The Connection Details dialog is the dialog that pops up when you run VNC
Viewer, into which you enter the server to which you wish to connect. What
are you entering into that?

I use to be able to VNC to my computer at work from home. It would first

It stopped working and when I start the viewer, It never asks for my

Hi, I recently got SSH and VNC running on my Ubuntu box in New York... I'm

Once I'm connected, I get about 10-30 seconds before Error, read:

I thought it would be an

Disconnect idle clients after (seconds)
IdleTimeout
Careful, there's a bug with the timer on Windows if you set it to zero
(to disable the timeout according to the doc). It will work fine for the
native client, but the Java viewer will no longer be able to connect.
Instead, set the time to a large value.

I checked the server log:
Connections: accepted: 10.173.29.39::2061
Sconnection: Client needs protocol version 3.3
Client: server default pixel format depth 16 (16bpp) little-endian rgb565
Connections: closed: 10.173.29.39::2061 (Non-shared
Correction: I can connect to any vnc servers running in Windows, but not in
Linux.
