I faced this problem 4 years ago when I switched from an old tangerine iMac to a G4. I was not able to do it. My memory of it is dim, also, but I recall the main problem was not the cable but incompatible data formats between the 2 machines. Regards, Pat on 2/9/07 4:05 PM, Steven at

H, Not sure what your problem was, Pat. Maybe files created by old software that wouldn't run on the G4? Just transferring the data shouldn't be a problem - I made the leap from an old mac IIvx (68030 processor) direct to a Ti G4 powerbook with no problem transferring data. It was operating

Thanks to all of those suggestions from everyone. I've tried all of them, and made some progress, but frustratingly not to the point of being able to copy data. The furthest I've got is being able to see the G3 when I go to my Network icon on my Intel MacBook Pro. But when I try to Connect,

Ethernet 10Base-T was just the slower earlier implementation. It will talk happily with Ethernet 10-100 (though, obviously, only at the slower speed). My IIvx was only 10Base-T but talked happily to the faster machines (just slowly!) Cheers Neil -- Neil R. Houghton Albany, Western Australia
