I have always treated non genuine inks with caution. Obviously it depends on the purpose of the print. Fine art and archival is one end of the scale, routine document printing is the other, relatively short term family photo prints are in the middle. I bought a colour laser printer som

John, I moved to recycled cartridges for my epson printers and since moved back again. I was getting drying problems and wasting lots of paper trying to get the nozzles to clear - so wasn't saving anything. I think the cartridges are an appalling recycling issue and create a substantial annuity

I refill most of the printer cartridges I have used with compatible inks.Almost impossible to get Brother compatible ink though. Always had good results with no print-head breakdowns. Very messy if you are not careful. Cartridge world swaps your cartridge for a full one for much less

Hi folks I have always bought the genuine inks for my printer, but now that we have 3 printers between us it's getting expensive. What do Wamuggers think of the non genuine cheap inks as far as damage which may be caused to the printers and true colour inks which do not fade? Cheers Jo

Hi Peter If there are no restrictions/security on the pdf then you could select all the text and paste it into Pages or Appleworks. If it still faint in the word processor then try changing text colour. If the pdf has graphics that you want do a similar procedure. Merv Neil Houghton wrote:

Hi Peter, One thing you can do is to "save as" an image format and then use an image editor to adjust levels. As a check, I just opened a pdf in preview and then saved as a png. I could then open the png in both Graphic converter and iPhoto - both of which offered me options to set levels. I'm
