Hi there folks, I notice that for the past few weeks if I drag an attachment from an email onto the desktop, then move it to Trash, then try to "empty trash", it will not empty until I have closed Mail. Using latest Apple Mail. Is this something new in Mail and can I change it ? Regards, Ste

Hi again Jon, I just remembered you mentioned that you had removed the 1TB Drive from your computer, after dragging ?GBs of data from it into the Trash. I had temporarily forgotten this bit ;-) You will need to re-connect the 1TB external Drive until the trash empties. You then need to reform

Thanks Ronni and Greg for your wisdom, I understand now. But, how can I now empty the trash without it taking forever? I have detached the 1Tb drive that the backups were on, and my trash still has Gb's worth of these deleted files. Is there a way of force trashing? or something like that?

Thank you Ronni, I thought that was the problem, but could not find the option to change it. Kept clicking on the Apple logo (top left) instead of Finder preferences @#$%^ I deleted X-Plane 8 the other day and it had over 50,000 files (you can just imagine how long that took). All is sweet

I updated to 1.5.5 with no problems except the trash will not empty. Even after a restart it has frozen. I tried a ³secure delete² and it has found 825,635 items to delete. I has deleted a few of them but again has frozen. The time machine sees to be working frantically. Is this part of the problem
