I had forgotten to install the WebobjectsRuntime package from the Apple
install. After running that the Adaptors dir is there.

I've never used the other installer. But, I don't think you'll have any
problems.

Just as a follow up, I did run the Apple installer. If I now run the
WOInstaller will there be problems? Also, I think you need to specify a
destination when using the WOInstaller, but I don't see any directions saying

Hi Jess,
I've always used the WOInstaller.jar option.
You create the directory:
/System/Library/WebObjects/Adaptors/Apache2.2
Seeing that this is a fresh install, you shouldn't have anything installed —
but if you did:
rm -f /System/Library/WebObjects/Adaptors/Apache2.2/mod_WebObjects.la
rm -f
On a similar subject, I'm trying to setup a new Lion server machine for
deployment. I'm trying to use these instructions:
http://wiki.wocommunity.org/display/documentation/Deploying+on+Mac+OS+X+Server
But I'm not getting very far because (I think) of changes made to Lion.

No, I mean one wiki space for people who contribute to Wonder and WOLips (and
other related tools), and another space with everything else (e.g. 95%
Do you mean:

Maybe UserManual would be a better name than Wonder? I would think the Wonder
wiki would cover just Wonder, not WOLips, etc. Historically it certainly has
been true.
Names are important. The name sh
Hi...turnkey installer guy here...
Did this for a while...got tired of "competing" with WOClipse, Manual installs,
etc...felt it was confusing newcomers to have multiple installation methods.
When you are new, you don't know which one is "best", and I felt it was not
helping the platform.

I just wanted to add to this thread that I found it useful in getting other
developers set up quickly by zipping up my eclipse and giving it to them --
given that they have the rest of the environment (same OS, same java, WO and

Imagine you are not a swimmer, wearing a life jacket you jump in the pool.
Suddenly the jacket deflates and you feel drowning, then you shout for help.
Soon after you realize that someone holds your hand, it's Pascal, Chuck,
Ramsay, David, ... and then you take your time and become a swimmer to

There is documentation for WOLips scattered in the Wonder wiki, the WOLips
wiki, (WebObjects wiki?) etc.
Why? Would it be a good idea to have it in one place/wiki? And then refer with
those fancy hyperlink things to that one place? It would see

All:
It'd be great to have a single install - maintaining such a thing isn't easy.
The instructions on the Project Wonder Installation page work for me. They are
linked directly from the WOCommunity page. There is also a link on the install
page to Golipse.
You do not have to install Xcode - y
Besides my half baked install... my jdbc driver problem still persists, I
can never seem to get the wolips.properties vs. ant. vs bundles vs wonder
code vs frameworks concept figured out or understood. Additionally, Apple's
spotlight doesn't search all the directories. I had to learn that the hard

Getting Started
The easiest way to install WOLips is to follow the steps in the Install WOLips

this is the recommended method for installing WOLips.

I'll be doing a clean install onto ML in the coming days. I'll make sure that
the wiki material is up to date and correct for the new OS as I go.

I would be happy with a working solution. WOLips is totally broken on Eclipse
Juno.
I tried running WOLips from source in Juno two weekends ago. There's a compile
error in the component editor.
Hi Markus,
Once a time I made an Eclipse & WOLips installer

It is installer Package for Eclipse and WOLips.

Hi Markus,
I do agree that we need to have an installer that will install Eclipse, WOLips,
Wonder and the core WO frameworks. But we did cleanup the wiki a lot a couple
of months ago, so I would like to know which pages on the wiki you followed,
because this page:

Yesterday a new intern started and we set out to set up a WO development
system. This was a virgin Lion 10.7.3. Fortunately I know what to do but my
intern would have given up half way through, even with the latest docs from the
wiki. O
