Fix so that when changing the name of the built package it deletes old ones.

Ah. Based on Bill’s clue, I tried checking the “Enable VHF/UHF/Microwave
features” option, and now I see the crash that was described by Gary and Keith.

Hi Gary and Keith,
I have just downloaded latest version (20:04 UTC) r7280. Compiled and running
now without any problems. Last cycle on 40m generated 20 decodes for

Relu,
You can download a call3.txt file from: http://www.mmmonvhf.de
There are many uses for such a file other than just WSJT and its related
programs. I use call3.txt with my Aircraft Scatter software, for example.
If on the website just noted you click on VHF-DATABASE and then "Edit my
Hi Gary and Keith,
As noted earlier, I don’t see this problem on versions that I have built here
on OS X 10.11 and on MacOS 10.12.
Just now, I downloaded the official rc2 release from the link given in Joe’s
announcement email, and that version runs OK as well.
Perhaps it would be useful to

Hi Keith,
are you using WSJT-X for VHF & up with the "Settings->General->Enable
VHF/UHF/Microwave features" option checked?

Hi Gary,
I can confirm that I have the exact same issue on rc2.
Just to be sure that this was not somehow linked to any MACOS system updates, I
installed an earlier version I still have the binary for (v1.7.0-rc1 r7152) -
it runs perfectly on JT65, with the ‘DECODE’ flashing very quickly (not

If I knew anything about it I'd be happy to submit some info.Right now I see
call3.txt referenced but not in reference to deep search or hinting.
IMHO that manual can't be too long (other than for maintenance reasons). How
else is anybody supposed to figure out what's going on if it's not in the

Hi Bob,
The message
"CALL3.TXT very short (N = xx) or missing?"
was introduced to warn a user that s/he is attempting a hinted decode
when the list of considered hypothetical messages is very small. The
(rather arbitrary) cutoff number is 10.
For a knowledgeable user the message can be
Hi Bob
There was a discussion about this a while back, and if I recall correctly a
"safe" number of entries is approximately 10.

I think the problem here is the error message that is being generated if
call3.txt is considered too short. The required length is not specified but 3
entries is too short. The error message appears to print a random number of
times in each decode period. To avoid this I Googled and found a
