in Pulseaudio, you need to select the input and output sources using
"pavucontrol".
Just above and to the left of the wsjt-x volume control and level in
pavucontrol the device you're sending to is shown. Click that and select
your radio's sound device.
You should, then, see the radio start transmi
A workaround is to use pulseaudio and pavucontrol to route the audio
correctly on the system level. This way when the 7300s soundcard comes back
online, the system will switch to it automagically.

You should be using /dev/ttyUSB*
You'll also want to make sure you add the user you're logging in as to the
"dialout" group.

I can verify that the ic-718, ic-7300 (with some bugs such as preamp
switching on randomly) and ic-7610 are all working at my qth with both the
latest wsjtx and last year's flrig/fldigi (which does not show the same
bugs as wsjtx) . My 751A does not currently function so it is impossible to

That's not only against the spirit of Amateur Radio, but it's also against
FCC rules regarding unattended operation. FT8 is NOT a beacon, and doesn't
fall under those rules.
Anyone who uses this deserves to be flogged repeatedly with a wet noodle,
and, if they're in the States, fined to the fulles
tems, or OSs, and this may be the reason I don't
see the behavior.

It could be a config file issue with wsjtx. Try renaming the config to a
.conf.bak and re-starting wsjtx, then proceed as if you've installed wsjtx
for the first time (enter callsign, location, rig control config, etc)...
I haven't run into this issue myself, but maybe it's worth a try?
