I'd not consider documents in a wiki to be a problem just because of dial-up.

I do have a 4 DVD set available that covers all of USA with the Tiger sets.

Yea. Just don't know the procedure yet or whether I have access to
do so. That'll have to be worked out.

So we extract the Wiki documentation periodically (stable releases?) and
box it up.

Personal perspective: Wiki is a DOCUMENTATION tool. It's not really an
intra-group communications tool. Every wiki I've used for the latter
has shown this to be the case.
I'd recommend using the Wiki for creating a best of breed documentation
project and to incorporate a dynamic FAQ page.

Good points - all three of them. I agree with your conclusions.
I had not seen the fledgling wiki on www.xastir.org - it's a good start!
Overview, and also linkage to all those diverse elements (for example "What
is a DRG?")
that tie to xastir don't currently have a

There's already an APRS wiki (http://info.aprs.net) and I understand
the xastir project home page just got a wiki
What are folks feelings about an xastir entry in wikipedia?
It could wind up being a nice way to compile all the needed information
related to xastir, including map information, where-to-get dependent parts,
etc.
