People responding to SEGMIN posts have to realize and understand that"reply" to
a SEGMIN post means reply to everyone in the worldwho is subscribed to SEGMIN.
Think about it for a second. Doyou really want every mineral exploration
geophysicist in the world toread what you are about to say? Or are you only
prompted to responddirectly to the postee? If the later, then send your
response just tothat person. Don't get the rest of us involved in a discussion
thatis better left to other social media sites.
Realize that "reply" on a list server is the same as"reply to all".
I like hearing from other mineral exploration geophysicists from aroundthe
world on SEGMIN, on topics of geophysics. (I am growing to likeinternational
Zoom meetings even more!). We are in nobleprofession. Particularly as the
world evolves to an environmentallycleaner solution to global energy demands.
Because technologicaland scientific answers to global problems inevitably
requires resourcesto fuel those answers. And those resources, which always
have to bemined economically, are always harder to find.
We mineral exploration geophysicists will always be on the forefront ofthe
quest to find resources. Certainly nothing will happen withoutgeologist to
understand earth processes, and geochemists to put it incontext. But
geophysics, and remote detection of mineral resourcesin the ground, by
inference or whatever, through the science of physics,is going to play a huge
part in our future.
Let us us mining and mineral exploration geophysicists on SEGMIN, tacklethe
issues of our science, and leave the social commentary to othermedia.

about 40 years and have never seen a slight indication ofdisrespect for various
cultural backgrounds. We are fortunate to live ina country of free speech (for
the moment) and everyone from diversebackgrounds need to just lighten up and

These are not your proverbial "sacred cows" as you refer tothem. What an

Instead of dismissing someone as being from a different culture,
wouldn'tpushing one's boundaries include putting some effort in understanding
