Well, a small inverter to run TVs, coolers and notebook computers might be
okay. I wouldn't try anything more than that. If you are plugging into the
cigarette lighter I think its fused at about 20AMPS. I'd check on the specs
of the inverter to see how much current it draws first.
Noooo way you can generate 1000-1500 watts from 12V and 20A.
Another thing, a car isn't exactly a generator but the alternator is. It
takes 3 phase AC and recitifies it to DC so you can charge up the battery
and supply electrical energy to the rest of the vehicle.
I think I'd opt for the real thing you plan on running your house with it.
Might be worth it, depending on where you live.
