I just posted how to do this on IE 4.0 Winows.
On IE 4.5 Mac, I see something but I'm not sure of its behavior:
Edit->Preferences..., tab Web Browser, Advanced; in the Cache frame, set
Update Pages to Always.
Maybe this will work. I know that Netscape Communicator pays *no*
attention to a similar setting (since version 4) but maybe IE does.
